HVAC Noise Problems

VES design and manufacture special silencers for ventilation equipment including fitted or built in silencers, acoustically lined plenums and special air handling unit cases. We can investigate and install solutions for noise problems from existing ventilation and air conditioning equipment.

Noise problems can be the result of a number of factors. Typically these could be:

• Breakout from plant housings, through casings, ducting or flexible connectors.
• Vibration transmission through walls and floors.
• Duct borne noise to conditioned space.
• Environmental noise from externally mounted plant or through louvres.

A typical example of where noise can be a problem is with pub and restaurant chains. Their location in dense urban areas can result in neighbours complaining because of their noisy rooftops.

We can assist with design calculations of the ventilation system to ensure required NR levels are achieved. We can also provide calculations, advice and equipment to avoid environmental noise problems. Problem solving - site survey, report, quotation and installation of solutions to ventilation noise problems. The results are checked before & after using calibrated precision sound level meters with full spectrum analysis.
