Controlling Energy Efficiency

01 Aug 2012

Increasing changes in the climate, dwindling resources, and rising energy costs as well as stricter government regulations are urgent drivers to drastically reduce energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. Growing consciousness of our environmental responsibilities also adds moral pressure for energy savings. Today, about 40% of all primary energy consumption is from working buildings. This consumption includes heating, hot water production, cooling, ventilation, lighting, and the necessary electronic equipment.

Energy Drivers

In the EU, the introduction of the EPBD (Energy Performance Building Directive) set in place a key element in improving the energy efficiency of buildings. A series of EU standards have been issued based on this directive for designing, installing
and inspecting heating, hot water, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning plants as well as lighting. Moreover, the EuP Directive (Directive for Energy using  Products) defines ecological criteria (energy consumption, emissions, recycling) for energy-operated products. This impacts on components that generate,  consume, monitor and measure energy. For HVAC plants, these include boilers, heat pumps, chillers, pumps, fans, among others.

Where should engineers look to save energy?

VES have extensive experienced and understanding of the HVAC market as well as
energy efficient building and room automation, with the combination of both products and services to create successful, energy-saving solutions that are simple to specify, install, and maintain.

The potential for improving energy efficiency varies depending on the system design, operation, maintenance, control and monitoring plus the competency of the operatives.  We at VES have an ongoing commitment to energy saving, with products and services designed with this objective in mind. That is why we feel it is important for us to demonstrate our knowledge of energy saving strategies and the benefits of selecting a solution from VES.

"From the outset VES was more than just a family business. We have strived to ensure excellence in all that we do, from quality of product through to delivery and value for money. These are just some of the many solutions we offer to meet the new global challenges that face our industry and customers today.

Here at VES we have created a working environment that challenges the individual to look beyond their immediate job role; to make a real difference to the business and the quality of service and product provided to our customers. We look forward to working with all of our customers to help them achieve their aims and should we fall short of this goal, then I welcome your feedback."
