As buildings
age, much of the original ventilation equipment ceases to
function. Coils become blocked,
filter frames deteriorate, the bottom of units rust out due
to water damage. Routine maintenance procedures do not
cover these sort
of problems.
Old equipment
often
has a high maintenance requirement.
Failure to meet
current performance requirements is also another reason to
refurbish failing systems.
VES engineers can upgrade your equipment and give
it a new lease of life. This starts with a site
survey, report and quotation, tailored to your technical
and budgetary requirements.
Once a programme of work has been agreed, method
statements and risk assessments will be issued,
a detailed site
survey will include airflow, pressure and noise
measurements as necessary.
The Refurbishment Division is part of the VES Andover
organisation, and can draw on considerable resources
for both manufacturing
and personnel requirements. All project management
and site work is carried out by
VES employees.
VES also undertake small jobs, for example replacing
an unsuitable noisy extract fan with a silenced
unit, or straight forward
replacement of defunct equipment.

Case Histories
New Look, Aberdeen
Complete refurbishment of two large roof top air handling units, including replacement of fan bearings, new motors, new electric heater batteries, replacement of corroded casework including new roofs, new DX coils and condensing units with associated refrigerant pipework and controls.

Before |

After |
Office complex, Leicester
Seven large air handling units in poor condition could not be replaced due to site location and lack of cranage access.

Before |

After |
VES refurbished the units to a high standard, including much work on the cases, new gas heaters, new DX coils and built-in condensers/compressors, new supply and extract fans, new controls. The buildings were noise sensitive, so all work was done at night and weekends to avoid disruption.
Marks & Spencer, Cardiff
When M & S took over the adjacent store, they wanted
the ventilation plant refurbished to a high standard.
This included double skinning
of the AHU cases, damaged access panels replaced,
new dampers, new filter sections, plus the twin fans
and roof extract units overhauled.
Debenhams, Oxford Street,
London
30 year old air handling units given a new lease
of life with new fans, coils, filter sections
plus casework modifications.
Elizabeth House, by Waterloo Station,
London
A major office complex with large air handling
plant. Work included removal of an antiquated
spray coil system and installation of an evaporative
humidifier, new dampers,
new filter sections,
new steel plantroom doors, new twin fan and
extract units.
The VES Flat Pack AHU Installation Service
Flat Pack installation
of air handling units and other VES products can result
in big savings, including builders work costs, crane hire,
road closure and
out of normal hours working.
VES will build your air handling unit in
difficult locations and take full responsibility
in ensuring
the plant will
fit the space available and is correctly
assembled.
A site survey is usually necessary for a
trouble free installation.
VES engineers will man handle the components
to the position required. All you need to
do is provide a level surface for the unit
and have cleared the
area of old plant
and
debris. For larger
units
specialist lifting equipment may be provided.
Only skilled VES employees undertake this
work, ensuring high standards and completion
in the minimum amount of time.
Case History
The Methodist Central Hall, London
Built in 1898, was converted in 2002 for
the "Bloody Sunday" government
inquiry. VES air handling units were
installed by the Flat Pack team in a room converted
to a plantroom.
There was poor access to the room
via a stairwell.
The equipment was designed
and built in the normal way, and assembled
in the VES factory
without any fastners being fitted.
After inspection it was
taken apart into
component pieces
and rebuilt
on site
as a finished product.
