The Royal Academy, Scotland
The Royal Scottish Academy has a proud tradition of promoting excellence in contemporary art in Scotland.
Over time it has created a reputation for the strength of its engaging and diverse exhibitions and the fantastic opportunities offering both established and emerging artists.
VES began their first phase at the Royal Scottish Academy in January 2011, with all works completed by August 2011. VES removed all internal components, chemically degreased and deep cleaned the internal sections of 12 air handling units as part of a refurbishment programme specifically designed for the Academy. All mechanical and electrical equipment was tested and replaced if necessary, including the fans, drives, framework and filters.
Internal corrosion was wire brushed and treated with rust prevention paint, HX coils were deep cleaned, flush filled and pressure tested.
The humidifier distribution sparge pipes were cleaned and any damage repaired along with any wiring, lighting, switches and isolators. Dampers were also repaired before VES refitted all the components and tested the units for air leakages (Resealing the fixed and access doors dealt with any leakages).
Once complete, the units were run up and tested for control operations.
The Royal Scottish Academy now provides fresh air to all their visitors through a VES maintained system.
